PHILIPSBURG:--- The Social Economic Council (SER) reported expenditure of XCG 1,162,513 against a stated budget of XCG 1,365,174 for 2025, placing its spending XCG 202,661 below the budgeted amount.
The figures, disclosed in the Council’s announcement of its 2025 Annual Report, indicate expenditure approximately 14.8 percent below the stated budget.
The announcement says the institution remained within budget but does not explain the difference between planned and actual spending.
During the same year, the Council completed 10 comprehensive advisory reports and held 23 Board meetings, including approximately six extraordinary meetings involving expert input on health care reform and the proposed Visitor’s Tax.
The Annual Report also outlines the SER’s institutional cooperation, including consultations with Government, civil society organizations, international partners and other Social Economic Councils within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
A milestone came on December 5, 2025, when the SER met with the Conseil Économique, Social et Culturel de Saint-Martin (CESC) for the first time in the Sint Maarten institution’s history.
The Council also participated in the AICESIS General Assembly in Curaçao in October 2025.
The SER said the publication of the report reflects its commitment to transparency, accountability, constructive social dialogue, and independent socio-economic advice.
