Shooting incident at Lucian Bar leaves Victim Hospitalized --- Car overturned as victims tried to escape their attackers.

Philipsburg:--- On Sunday January 16th at approximately 05:00 am, the Central Police Dispatch received a call informing them of a traffic accident on the Sucker Garden road in the vicinity of Rainbow Supermarket in which a car that was traveling at high speed lost control and turned over. The car in question landed on its side in the middle of the road. Immediately after receiving this call several police patrols were sent to investigate what had happened. On the scene the patrols learnt from bystanders, that the victim had already left the scene in another car and that he was complaining of a gunshot wound to one of his legs. The Central Police Dispatch was informed of what had taken place. The Sint Maarten Medical Center was immediately contacted at which time it was confirmed that shortly before, a man who was shot in his leg, was brought in for medical treatment. The Police traffic Department, Detective Department and Forensic Department were called in to investigate the matter. According to witnesses, the shooting occurred at or in the vicinity of Lucian Bar on the New Oysterpond road. The victim with the initials G.J. from Curacao who was fleeing from his attacker (s) at very high speed lost control of the vehicle he was driving turning it over and landing on its side. What exactly transpired that lead to this shooting incident, as well as who the suspect(s) are, is still unclear and under investigation. The victim remains in hospital for observation. As more information becomes available the media will be informed.
