The annual walkathon will be held this Saturday beginning at 5am at Le Grand Marche Shopping Center on the Bushroad.
This is the 30th year that JFE will be hosting the walkathon and decided to recognize the first three persons who complete the walk to the Marigot waterfront. We wanted to do something special and seeing the competitive spirit that has developed with walkers boasting of breaking records to be the first to complete the trek from the Dutch side to the French side, stated JFE President Rolando Tobias. Three trophies were sponsored by Cigar Factory for the fastest walkers.
There are still a few tickets available and interested walkers can contact any member of the Journey for Education Foundation. The walkathon begins at 5am at Le Grand Marche Bushroad, going over the Colebay Hill across union road over the border and ending at the Marigot waterfront. There walkers will be treated to a breakfast of saltfish and journey cakes.
For the past 30 years, Journey for Education Foundation has been organizing two major fundraising events annually; the annual dinner and walkathon. Proceeds from both events are handed out to students seeking tertiary education.
