PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association SHTA has lauded the recent release of the first editions of "FACTors" Statistical Magazine produced by the Department of Statistics, St. Maarten (STAT) as being an excellent initiative and a great tool for all businesses.The intention of the magazine is to provide a more detailed analysis which is centered per issue, on topics within price statistics, social data, and business/economic developments.
President of the SHTA Emil Lee stated in a press release "For years, the SHTA has been advocating for the need for improved transparency and access to timely information. The STAT's FACTors Magazine is a tremendous accomplishment."
He added, "The SHTA would like to congratulate the Department of Statistics, St. Maarten for an excellent job."
Executive Director for the SHTA Alfred Harley said every member of the community should ensure that they get a copy of the Magazine because it contained facts that would help us to formulate opinions on issues affecting us locally. Harley said, "While you may already have an opinion on your topic and an idea about which side of the argument you want to take, you need to ensure that your position is well supported by the kind of facts that are now readily available in this new FACTors Magazine."
The magazine contains information such as the 2011 St. Maarten Business Cycle Survey Results, 2009 Import-Export Survey Results, Consumer Price Index Trimester Report for 2011and other important facts that can be used by businesses and individuals as a guide when planning their next financial year.
The magazine will be issued twice annually in July and December, and SHTA members are encouraged to take advantage of the information it contains.
