DIFFERENCES PUT ASIDE IN ST. PETERS COMMUNITY.

St. Peters:--- The Rupert Maynard Center in St. Peters was site for a lively and well attended meeting Monday night organized by concerned residents aimed at reviving the St. Peters Community Council Foundation, dormant since 2009 with the departure of the then President to the Netherlands.
Over the last number of weeks there has been an exchange of words in local media between the founding President, Maurice Lake and Koto Wilson both born and bred St. Peters "boys" as to the manner in which election, appointments or nomination to the Board are to take place. Both gentlemen buried hatchets on Monday night and to the great delight of the in excess of 60 persons gathered, accepted a motion to request the remaining Board members of the last appointed Board to produce a report in time for an April 11, community meeting. Both Maurice Lake and Koto Wilson shook hands showing that both men have the interest of the St. Peters and Marigot Hill Community at heart and wish to unselfishly work for the interest of the community resident in the neighborhoods.
Suggestions made by those in attendance was for the installation of an election committee which committee would study the Articles of Incorporation and bi-laws to insure proper procedures for a new Board to be installed will be followed. One member who resigned from the last Board, Mr. Fredericks committed to assist Gina Illidge in preparing the needed documentation for a report much to the satisfaction of the community members present.
Monday night's meeting was reported to be an example of a community working together to move on and work towards the future in the best interests of the residents of the neighborhoods. There was a high attendance of Members of Parliament including Patrick Illidge, Hyacinth Richardson (a St. Peters resident), George Pantophlet, Dr. Lloyd Richardson, and Romain LaVille. Minister of Health, Labor & Social Affairs, Honorable Cornelius De Weever was in attendance as well.
