Philipsburg:--- The Minister of Justice Roland Duncan and his staff at the Ministry of Justice have dispatched a negative report about the behavior of Guy van der Meulen, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs. SMN News has been reliably informed that the foreign civil servant insulted some Bavpol officers that were conducting immigration controls at the harbor. The source said that the incident occurred about two weeks ago when Guy van der Meulen and his wife was returning from St. Barths. SMN News further learnt that the head of foreign affairs was obstructing the Bavpol officers from executing their duties.During the incident, the department head was loud, abusive, and aggressive towards a particular Bavpol officer. At some point, he reportedly told the Bavpol officer that "you are finished" and "you are not a real civil servant". He also raised his middle finger to the immigration officials.
One law enforcement official said that in incidents such as those, the person should have been arrested on the spot for obstructing immigration from carrying out their legally prescribed tasks. However, the Minister of Justice and police has decided to draft a report on the incident and send it to the Minister of General Affairs Sarah Wescot Williams.
SMN News further learnt that several complaints were filed with Government regarding Department Head's attitude. Sources close to the department said the Foreign Affairs Head is racist and has a nasty attitude. He considers St. Maarteners to be corrupt, stupid, and uneducated while he is here to help the island. It is also understood that while these complaints have been filed, the Ministry of General Affairs is yet to take proper action.
SMN News made several attempts to contact the Foreign Affairs Head but he could not be reached for a comment.
