The Prime Minister was presented with the winning trophy as the walkers had gathered at the waterfront and were being served breakfast by the JFE members. Foundation President Rolando Tobias was very pleased with the participation and achievement of the Prime Minister as it demonstrates her commitment to fitness as well as to the Journey for Education Foundation. The trophy for second place was presented to Florine, while Gilbert was presented with the third place trophy. Minister of Education Rhoda Arrindell also participated in the walkathon.
Founded in 1982, the Journey for Education Foundation has been granting supplementary scholarships to students pursuing tertiary education for the past 30 years. The organization raises funds for this purpose by hosting two events every year; the fundraising walkathon in April and the annual gala dinner. In celebration of its 30th anniversary walkathon, the Foundation decided to award trophies to the first three walkers who complete the walk from Le Grand Marche to the Marigot Waterfront. JFE President Rolando Tobias expressed appreciation to the many sponsors and the dedicated members of JFE for making the walkathon a success.
