
The ceremony started off with a church service at the Catholic and Apostolic Church in Sandy Ground and then speeches at the Alberic Stadium on Rue de Sandy Ground.
Third Vice President Guillaume Arnell who is now assuming the role of President in the absence of President Alain Richardson focused on the champions within the region during the recent Olympic Games. Arnell said that even though the Olympics 2012 has ended, the joy of the fabulous ceremony remains in his mind, especially the opening and closing ceremonies. He said he is certain that St. Martin felt joy for Jamaica, France, Trinidad, and Guadeloupe.
The third Vice President said that Sandy Ground can take example from the recently concluded Olympics and inspire themselves especially by the success of the athletes. These athletes he said worked hard while dedicating themselves through their conviction for success.
Other speakers at the Sandy Ground Fete were Prefet Delegue Philippe Chopin and President of Sandy Ground of Move Julien "Bagan" Richardson. After the official speeches, lunch was served to those that attended.
