New York, USA:--- On Friday August 31st, Roxanne 'Roxxy' Webster earned the first music award of her music career at the 10th International Soca Award (ISA) ceremony which took place in New York as part of this year's Labor Day Weekend celebration. Roxxy, who represents both Anguilla and St. Maarten as a Soca and Calypso Artist was nominated for two awards for her hit release 'Delete', and is extremely happy to have won the award for 'Best Soca Music Video'. Roxxy recognizes this would not have been possible without the support of her fans who took the time to vote for her as a nominee competing against more recognized artists out of the Caribbean region, including Edwin Yearwood & Krosfyah of Barbados; Kes the Band of Trinidad and Tobago, and Mr. Machel Montano also of Trinidad and Tobago. Roxxy's music video 'Delete' won the title 'Best Soca Music Video' in tight competition tying with Mr. Machel Montano's popular 'Vibes Cyah Done' video. Regarding this major accomplishment, Roxxy says "I never thought I stood a chance, but I never stopped believing in myself, my fans, family, and friends. I love you guys."'Delete' the music video, which now has over 24,000 hits on YouTube since its release in March of this year, was directed by Julien Kirton and produced by Rickielle Hodge and Rocklyn Maynard of R&R Productions in Anguilla. The video was shot in Anguilla; it highlights many beautiful aspects of the island, and features some of the local businesses that have pledged their support to make Roxanne's dream of having a music video possible. Roxanne is proud of her team 'Team Roxxy' which includes her sponsors, supporters, family, friends and the media, which have all contributed to the realization of her dream. "It makes me feel proud to have a great team and even better to have the support from my communities," she says.
While in New York, Roxxy had the opportunity to perform her hit track 'Delete' live at the ISA event; she made a special appearance at the Antigua & Barbuda Council of Organization Soca Splash in Manhattan, and also was a guest performer at various nightclubs. Roxanne is proud to be representing the small, yet beautiful islands of Anguilla and St. Maarten.
Roxanne returns on Wednesday September 5th, but would like to take this opportunity to thank the Anguilla Tourist Board for its commitment in assisting with her travel requirements to be able to attend and participate in the 2012 Soca Awards.
