This year special attention has been paid to the social events. As customary, there will be a Police Song Festival, in which the officers will compete for the coveted best singer award. There will also be a dance competition and a culture night. During this night the various ethnic groups on the island will have an opportunity to display their countries culture through music, dance, food, and drinks.
Police Day will be also celebrated on October 10th, 2012. There will be a church service in the morning hours followed by a parade by the various uniformed troupes from Sint Maarten and abroad.
In an effort to raise funds for these upcoming events, the PSA will be hosting a Pre-Song Festival. On this night we will determine who will represent Sint Maarten in the Main Police Song Festival. Competing are: Naomi Alexander, Moceda Egen, Samantha Theodore, George York, Eric Wiel, Rumini Rogers, and Kalvin Mason. This is scheduled for September 15th, 2012 at 8pm. The venue for this event will be the Rock House in Port de Plaisance. MC for the evening will be Fox. There will be a dance following the song festival with the 911 Band and DJ EZ Ric. Tickets for this event is US10.--.
The PSA has also organized a raffle. Prizes for the raffle are as follows: 1st prize: a cruise for 2 valued at $2,000.--. 2nd prize: a cruise for 2 valued at $1,500.--. 3rd prize: 2 airline tickets to any Insel Air destination. 4th prize: a 50 inch LG flat screen tv. Price per ticket is $10.--.

The PSA hereby takes this opportunity to thank all persons who have thus far been instrumental in the organizing of these events and hereby urges the community at large to come out and support our Law Enforcement Officers.
