National Alliance Leader Submitted Letter to PM and Governor --- New Government will take office when Vetting is Complete --- Marlin.

wmarlindeliveringletters02052012Philipsburg:--- On Wednesday morning, leader of the National Alliance William Marlin hand delivered a copy of the letter sent by email to the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Sarah Wescot Williams informing her that four Members of Parliament have withdrawn their support from the current UP/DP Government. Also included in the letter are the details of the formation of the new government involving the National Alliance, Democratic Party, and Independent Members Frans Richardson, Romaine La Ville, and Patrick Illidge.
Marlin also delivered a hard copy of said letter to the Governor of St. Maarten drs. Eugene Holiday and submitted the names of the persons his government will be nominating to the Ministerial positions for vetting. Marlin did not disclose the names of the person's the National Alliance will be nominating to fill the five Ministerial positions. He said that he will make the names public when the vetting process is over and those persons are able to take office. The National Alliance leader and Member of Parliament did not confirm or deny if he will be giving up his seat in Parliament to become part of the Council of Ministers. He said as soon as the vetting process is over and the executive branch of the government apparatus is in place he will make it known to the media.
Marlin told reporters on Wednesday that the Democratic Party and Independent Member of Parliament Patrick Illidge asked him during their negotiations to keep the portfolios they held with the UP coalition and he agreed because for him it is not important who the next Prime Minister is. Marlin explained that the people of St. Maarten are hurting and his intention is to make things better for the people of St. Maarten for the remaining first term. He clarified on Wednesday that the National Alliance won the last election by having won seven seats but they were left out during the formation of government two years ago. Marlin said that St. Maarten lives in a democratic world and while he had no problem living with the decisions taken by politicians, the people of St. Maarten who voted were not happy.
