The objective of this event is to honour mothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, significant others and female role models who have played or are playing a significant role in other people's lives and to offer them a wonderful and fun-filled Sunday afternoon out.
Several Golden Stars, singers of 55 years and older will perform, and members of the audience will be invited to pay tribute to mothers in the audience. Unlike previous Karaoke Festivals organized by the Aging with Grace Foundation, during this Mother's Day Karaoke Festival/Dance Party, the performers from the audience may be of any age and will not be required to sing only songs of the 50s and the 60s.
To further enhance the festive atmosphere, the audience will get the opportunity to dance to great music provided by the well-known D.J. Ruby. There will also be a number of door prizes as well as finger snacks, refreshments and gifts. Food and drinks will be on sale.
As has been the case with previous Golden Stars Karaoke Festivals organized by the AWG Foundation, free admission tickets will be offered to 50 seniors with financial challenges to allow them to come out to a wonderful afternoon. The AWG Foundation hopes to get these tickets sponsored.
The Aging with Grace Foundation is inviting the general public, one and all, young and old to come out to a wonderful fun-filled Sunday afternoon to honour and pay tribute to the ladies. Although not compulsory, the AWG would appreciate if all could come out dressed in summer festive colours (white, yellow, and pink) for the Mother's Day Karaoke Festival/Dance Party.
Tickets for the Karaoke Festival and Dance Party are only $15,- in advance and $20,- at the door. Tickets are on sale at both Van Dorp Store on the Illidge Road, at Van Dorp Store in Simpson Bay, at the Family Bookstore (opposite the Post Office) and at the office of Richniel Investment in the Cannegieter Street.
