A press release from the Gendarmerie states that on February 29th, 2012, the woman was a passenger on a boat that traveled from St. Maarten to St. Barths and while disembarking in Gustavia she was controlled by the Gendarmes who found the illegal substance which was concealed in her handbag.
The Gendarmes found several packets of the illegal drugs amounting to 7.5kg carefully wrapped and stashed away in the young woman's handbag.
She appeared before the judge on Tuesday and was sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
