Henson said the two culprits were armed with a machete and a gun. The police spokesman further explained that the officers tried to get the suspects to heed their warning and drop their weapons but when they refused one of the officers shot one of the suspects in his right hip. Henson said the bullet exited through the suspect's butt. The police spokesman further explained that the injured suspect was taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment while the other suspect is still at large. The armed robbery unit is still busy investigating the case, Henson explained.
