TelEm Group construction works only to spruce up area and secure access to company property --- In Response to Vendor’s stand being constructed.

telemlbscotroad13082012Philipsburg:--- TelEm Group says that the construction taking place on company's property on the L.B. Scott Road is aimed at tidying up the area surrounding the property and securing access to a TelEm Group building.

"We have taken specific actions in recent months to gain free and unhindered access to our property on the L.B. Scott Road. In the process, and as good corporate citizens, we also undertook to enhance the appearance of the area around the same building.

The construction works were brought to public attention last Friday after residents in the area reportedly complained to an online news media provider promoting the following TelEm Group response.

"The actions we have taken at our L.B. Scot Road property include fencing off the location from the roadside. Further, and in order to maintain the area surrounding the building in a neat a aesthetically pleasing fashion and to enhance the general area around the building, TelEm Group has convinced a licensed vendor to allow them to assist her in the reconstruction of her vending booth.

"In return for the upgrade of the vendor's booth TelEm Group has negotiated with the vendor to display company logos and advertisements. "TelEm Group recognizes that in its enthusiasm as a good corporate citizen to upgrade the area around its building that it may have acted prematurely by not ensuring a permit was required to reconstruct a vending booth that was already in place. We are currently in talks with VROMI to determine if such a permit is required, and if so, one will be obtained without delay.

TelEm Group is in the meantime allowed to continue with its plans to fence off its property and upon the advice of the Government Inspector will hold off on the construction of the vendor's booth until it can be determined if a construction permit is first required.

TelEm Group is grateful to members of the public for bringing to its attention alleged illegal actions that have reportedly taken place in the proximity of our L.B. Scot Road location in the past, and will certainly take whatever steps it can to ensure illegal transactions are not permitted to take place on TelEm Group's property once the upgrade is completed.

According to information provided to SMN News, the booth is constructed over a cesspit, while the vendor in question does not have any public washroom for her and her two grand children to use while on the location. Some residents in the area said that the vendor would urinate where she is selling food produce and in front of pedestrians.

When SMN News asked the Chief Communication Officer Joe Dominique for a reaction to the information that has been provided by the residents, Dominique said he has requested a response internally from those more familiar with the location and the negotiations with the vendor. He assured that upon receiving this response he will respond to the questions as accurately as possible.
