Chief of Police Peter de Witte confirmed that the victim defended himself by taking a knife and stabbing both his attackers. De Witte said when police reached the scene they were not able to find the injured suspects.
It turned out that at least one of the injured robbers had to be taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment shortly after the stabbing.
In an unrelated incident, on Saturday afternoon a man was shot in his lower leg by persons who attempted to rob him of his gold chain on Back Street.
Up to press time the police did not release any information on the two attempted robbery incidents where persons were injured.
