No Policy in Place to Curtail the Amount of Lease Land Given to One Family.

Philipsburg:--- There is no policy or ordinance in place to curtail the amount of lease land that can be given to one family confirmed Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams on Wednesday at the Council of Minister's press briefing. The Prime Minister was responding to a question posed by SMN News regarding the piece of land that was given to former Minister of Health and Labour Maria Buncamper Molanus. The former Minister of VROMI Theodore Heyliger and the Secretary General of VROMI signed off on a parcel of land located on Pond Island on May 4th 2012 for MARCLAU NV.
Wescot Williams said the current Minister of VROMI William Marlin discussed this matter with the Council of Ministers last week and one of the things they believe should be part of a policy is how many plots of lease land can be given to one family. The Prime Minister said that there is a situation where government is leasing land to individuals and those individuals are then forming companies to lease more land. This creates a situation where the person in question is not the same as the company. She said these were part of the discussions with Marlin last week but she said Marlin did not get all the necessary information regarding the matter.
