Marlin said in his letter that the information the Ombudsman provided gave him ample cause to initiate a query into the functioning of that particular office. Marin further explained that the formal query will seek to obtain a substantiated response to the deficiencies set forth in the report, as well as a proper insight into the procedures of the Kadaster regarding cadastral registrations and service to the general public.
Marlin said he is seeking to obtain a response within 14 days and the Ombudsman will be informed on the progress of the query.
Recently, the director of the Kadaster office came under fire when he leaked information to a particular media house regarding a visit to his office by two Members of Parliament that were seeking to assist one of their relatives that was trying to obtain a deed from the Kadaster office. One of the Members of Parliament swore to take actions via the Parliament of St. Maarten, that Member of Parliament said that he will do all in his power to remove the current director Clement Roos from his position since he is not working in the best interest of the St. Maarten people.
