Philipsburg:--- Despite the early morning showers of rain, several dignitaries including Governor Eugene Holiday attended the National Tree Day planting organized by SIMARC students.Jay Haviser of SIMARC said that a juniper tree was given to the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Sarah Wescot Williams in the presence of Governor Holiday who represented the Kingdom in the event.
SIMARC students actually planted the tree.
In the afternoon of National Tree Day, the SIMARC students planted 8 mahogany trees on Walter Nisbeth Road, led by Haviser with Elsje Bosch present, and also with Mrs. Maria Buncamper-Molanus of St. Maarten Rotary Club who sponsored the trees this year.
SIMARC is very pleased with this year's National Tree Day, and hope to make next year even better.
