St. Maarten Cultural Icon Camille Baly Passed Away on Tuesday.

camillebaly21082012Philipsburg:--- St. Maarten lost another great son of the soil on Tuesday morning when the former director of Youth and Cultural Affairs Camille Baly passed away at the St. Maarten Medical Center after a brief illness. Baly's health deteriorated during the past nine months since he lost his beloved wife Elvia Baly better known as nurse Baly who passed away last year October. Even though Baly was grieving the loss of his beloved wife, he remained active in his political life as an adviser to the National Alliance. Camille Baly was member of the Council of Art, he was also the Principal of the Lionel Connor School in Cole Bay while the leader of the National Alliance William Marlin was a teacher at the same school.
The late Camille Baly is also known on the island for gathering St. Maarten's history. He paid close interest to the cultural aspect of the island since the island's culture was something he treasured. Baly has left to mourn his daughter Tallulah Baly-Vanterpool, his son Camille "Ray" Baly, three grandchildren, and the National Alliance family especially Cloyd "Ohndae" Marlin whom he considered as one of his sons.
The family of the late Camille Baly is busy preparing for his home going ceremony. SMN News wishes the family of the late Camille Baly especially his only daughter Tallulah much strength.
