Minister of Justice and Finance Minister to meet with Dutch Ministers to discuss issues facing St. Maarten.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson and Minister of Finance Maarten Hassink are currently in the Netherlands preparing for meetings they have scheduled with Minister Van der Steur this week to further discuss the issues facing St. Maarten. The Minister travelled to the Netherlands on Sunday while the meetings are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Issues such and the statements, conclusions and a report submitted by the Chief of Police of the Netherlands Mr. Bouman who visited St. Maarten last month to inform St. Maarten’s Minister of Justice of the intentions of the Kingdom, one being to have a separate Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for the RST and Royal Marechaussee which was shot down by St. Maarten’s Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson.
Based on the decisions taken by St. Maarten’s Minister of Justice not to allow the Attorney General of the countries Curacao and St. Maarten Guus Schram to establish a separate CID department, the Kingdom Council of Ministers namely Minister Van der Steur and Minister Ronald Plasterk submitted a request with the Kingdom Council of State seeking permission to issue an instruction to St. Maarten in order for them to establish an integrity chamber on St. Maarten.
