PHILIPSBURG:--- The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) has observed a deeply troubling trend involving students in/out of uniform engaging in theft and other unlawful activities on the Boardwalk and surrounding areas. Reports confirm that students have been stealing bags and other personal belongings from patrons enjoying the beach. Additionally, shop owners in the alleys connecting Front Street to the Boardwalk have reported witnessing these students participating in other illegal activities.
KPSM reminds parents and guardians that they bear partial legal responsibility for the actions of their minor children. Failure to address this behavior could lead to serious consequences, including potential legal action against the parents themselves.
This escalating issue endangers the safety and reputation of our community, as well as the security of its residents and visitors. KPSM calls on parents to take immediate action by monitoring their children’s whereabouts and behavior, engaging in meaningful conversations about the consequences of unlawful actions, and ensuring compliance with the law.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten is committed to maintaining public safety and protecting the community. Cooperation from parents and the broader public is essential to curbing this behavior.
